Backstreet Boy AJ McClean confirmed they’ve been in talks with Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham and Melanie C for a while now, and the discussions are ongoing.

AJ, 37, told the Daily Star: “The Spice Girls tour has been this idea bouncing around for the past year and a half, and it’s something we’re still talking about.”

According to insiders, the Spice Girls, who shot to worldwide fame in the 90s, need the Boys to secure larger venues in America, as their fan base isn’t quite as big over there.

A source said: “America had a different relationship with the Spice Girls. They were big but their success didn’t last quite as long, so teaming with another act is a way of booking bigger venues.”

Earlier this year it was reported that the Girls will definitely be reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut single Wannabe – but without 41-year-old fashion designer Victoria.

However Mel B has hit back at these claims, and dismissed allegations she and VB are feuding over the comeback.

Appearing on the Meredith Vieria Show, 39-year-old Mel said: “[Victoria] is my friend, I love her to pieces. If we do something, it has to be all of us.

“That’s the whole point. As soon as there’s something to actually announce, I’ll be yelling it from the rooftops!”
