The Wanted's Jay McGuiness has come under fire following his show stopping performance at the weekend.

His Pulp Fiction jive with partner Aliona Vilani scored the 25-year-old the series' top marks so far, but not everyone seemed impressed.

Presenter Jamie East took to Twitter, writing:

"Can't believe Jay from The Wanted has discovered this dancing ability on a TV show! Amazing!", sharing a screen grab of wikipedia outtake which reads: 'At the age of 13, McGuiness went to Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance'.

His apparent dig received a mixed response, with some branding the show a fix, whilst others defended Jay.

Eva tweeted: "He has never hidden that part of his life. Anyone can read it, it's not a secret. Honestly can't understand why is so important".

Joshua added: "To be fair I did 3 years of dance at drama school but I can't dance for sh*t".

However Jay appeared to let the whole thing go over his head, simply tweeting:

"Thanks @KevinMyers for the dancing tips on Saturday, missed you! Reply to Strictly & accept their offer next year!□□ ".
