Nathaniel Marston has died at the age of 40 after being involved in a serious car crash on 30th October 2015.

The actor, who is most famous for his six-year stint as Michael McBain in ABC’s One Life To Live, suffered a broken back and neck after his vehicle drifted into a hard shoulder and overturned a number of times.

"A preliminary investigation has lead police to believe that Marston was fatigued and fell asleep while driving," a statement sent to ET Online revealed.

The statement added that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the single-car accident.

His mother, Elizabeth Jackson, shared an emotional Facebook post confirming the devastating news that the star had passed away from his injuries.

She wrote: "Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news.

“My beloved and cherished son, Nathaniel Marston, who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries."

She continued bravely: “Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms. Father William, myself and his second Mommy Lisa, and our dear friend Charlotte were by his bedside, he was not alone."

Nathaniel’s mother added that, had he survived, he would have most likely have had to live out his life as a quadriplegic.

Our thoughts are with Elizabeth Jackson and the rest of Nathaniel Marston’s family and friends at this tragic time.
