The 42-year-old and singer Jamelia, 34, ended up in the bottom two on the BBC One competition last week and, after being voted off, she claimed the show was edited in Pete’s favour.

But reps for the dad-of-three have hit back. In a statement, they said: “How can the show be fixed if he was in the bottom two?

“The results have absolutely nothing to do with Peter. It’s handled by and outside company so even if Pete wanted to, he wouldn’t know where to look.

“I have no idea why Jamelia said these things because she and Pete get on really well. I know Pete really likes her.”

The rep added: “I guess Jamelia was just being Jamelia but I don’t think she meant what she said in a vicious way.”

However Loose Women host Jamelia is sticking to her guns, adding that Pete’s standing ovation was re-recorded.

But the BBC dismissed her claims

Appearing on the spinoff show It Takes Two, she said: “I definitely thought there was hope. We did a great last dance. I think it was before they re-recorded Pete’s standing ovation was when I realised it was us that would definitely be going home.

“The honest thing is he didn’t [get one]. But on the show he did.”

The BBC have insisted Jamelia’s claims are false, and a spokesperson claimed Pete did initially receive a standing ovation.

They said: “Following Peter's performance in the dance off, for which he received a standing ovation from the audience, continuity shots were taken during a break in filming to reset the dance floor.”
