BABYNAMES

These days it’s totally standard practice for parents to document every part of their children’s lives, sharing their pictures on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...(it's endless).

But it appears that some new parents have been taking a different kind of inspiration from this and today it was revealed that some filters on Instagram are becoming increasingly popular as names. We are not kidding.

BabyCenter released the findings of their annual survey earlier today and confirmed the new trend.

“You take these precious moments in your life and [a filter] makes them even more beautiful, it enhances them. I think people have just really warm feelings about that and these names come into their consciousness,” Linda Murray, BabyCenter's global editor in chief, said.

But what made the list? Lux – which is now an editing tool on the picture sharing site – has risen in popularity by 75% since last year. Other Instagram themed names for boys also included Reyes, Amaro and Ludwig.

For girls, they noted that Valencia, Juno and Willow had all seen big increases.

Thank goodness Lo-Fi, Sutro and Toaster didn’t make the list…
