She’s excitedly awaiting the arrival of her first child, and Cara Kilbey has just over two weeks to go until her due date.

As fans of the 26-year-old will know, Cara tragically suffered a miscarriage last year – making this pregnancy all the more precious. In her exclusive blog for Closer Online, former TOWIE star Cara documents the final leg of her journey from bump to baby.

“I’m reaching two weeks from my due date and the uncomfortable nights have started to kick in. Poor Daniel sleeps with me laying across him tossing and turning throughout the night. I spoke with Sam Faiers this week and she warned me to be ready for labour at any time now as she came 2 weeks early.

“In terms of being ready… My hospital bags are packed for both me and the baby and my Carry Cot is waiting with a white cover, which I’m sure I’ll change to blue or pink once I know the sex of the baby. I’ve gone with the Surf 2 Silver Cross Pram so that’s all been set up for me and waiting to be used in the hallway.

“How does a first time mum know what to pack in a hospital bag? The first person you would automatically ask is your own mum, however its been 25 years since she was in this position and lets put it this way – times have changed! So next to ask were my friends who recently had babies. The list of them seems never ending…

“For the baby I’ve packed: Six vests, six baby grows, two pink coming home outfits, two blue coming home outfits, newborn nappies, water wipes, bottom butter by Love Boo as I've heard it’s the best on the market, and lots of Milton goodies, muslins, burb bibs, four blankets, scratch mitts, towel for the baby and the ready made bottles which already have sterilised teets which makes my life very easy.

“For myself I’ve packed: A couple of new pairs of pyjamas, a robe and slippers just incase I end up staying longer than intended. A toiletries bag packed with all miniature toiletries so they don’t take up too much room, comfy underwear, breast pads, my own towel and a coming home outfit for me too of course.

“At week 35 I had my Birth Plan with my Obstetrician (Dr Chineze Otigbah) she talked me through all the possible options and scenarios. In an ideal world my waters would break naturally on my due date (7 February) and I would go into labour and within a few hours on only gas and air pain as relief (as that’s all I’ll need) the baby would be here. Somehow I’m guessing it isn’t as easy as that… I am however having a natural birth and have been for my 38 week scan showing the baby is fully engaged and in the correct position for a natural birth.

Cara and Daniel are waiting until they know the sex of the baby before they settle on a name

“Both Daniel and my mum are my birthing partners and will both be in the room with me. I’m hoping to not spend too long in the hospital and then I can have friends and family come to visit me at home once Daniel, the baby and I are settled. I’ve always thought that I’d want to move into my mum and dads house once I’d had the baby for comfort but now I’m so content in my own house and have everything I need here, I’d prefer the baby to settle in their own surroundings.

“I’ve been asked quite often if we have names for the baby – Yes, we do and have had two names for both a girl and boy since the start which we both agreed on. However I just think until the baby’s here, there’s no real decision made.
