Have a healthy Easter
Monday 31 January 2011
After Christmas you made a promise to yourself that your body was now a temple and that your diet and exercise regime was going to become a permanent fixture. It’s all going so swimmingly until Easter rolls around and before you know it your knee deep in chocolate.
But there are ways to enjoy Easter without consuming your body weight in eggs. Here are a few tips to ensure a healthy holiday weekend.
Dark Chocolate Easter Eggs - Eating dark chocolate has actually been shown to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol.
Put low fat spread on those Hot Cross Buns – Don’t drown your hot cross buns in a sea of butter. Try low fat spreads such as Benecol.
Get Active – Easter egg hunts aren’t just for kids. Get involved in the games and shed those naughty calories.
Garlic Helps Fight Cholesterol – When eating your Easter lamb this year remember to cook with garlic as it helps to lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
Compensate Before and After - If you know you’re going to over indulge on the day make sure you eat healthy in the run up and jump straight back into the diet after.
