Spice Girls

Another day - another Spice girls event!

Friday 14 December 2007

My entire life seems to be revolving around the Spice Girls at the minute. I saw them perform in Vegas, met a couple of them  backstage and yesterday I went down to watch them arrive in the country for the UK leg of their reunion tour. They kick off on Saturday at the O2 and I think I’ll end up going to see them on one of their 17 dates there!

But their arrival back into the country was to officially open the Virgin Atlantic posh new airport terminal within Terminal 3 at Heathrow. The swanky area cost millions and boasts that their upper class clients will be able to make it from their limo to the lounge in just ten minutes. Pity I'll never find out - well maybe one day!

Poor Baby Spice slipped over on stage in the US and has sprained her ankle so she was on crutches - she's now seeing David Beckham's physiotherapist so fingers crossed that she'll be fine for Saturday's show.

Meanwhile Posh pouted throughout the opening of the Terminal and weirdly carried her beloved Hermes Birkin bag to go on stage for the big opening moment. She hardly smiled at all and stood looking like she'd practiced her posing in the mirror for an hour. It's a bit sad because she actually reminded me of Big Brother moron Chanelle Hayes. That's how fake and pouty she looked!

Mel C and Mel B were on fine form causing their usual madness with Sir Richard Branson when he came on stage with them. And Geri enthusiastically talked about being glad to play the crowd  "in the country we were born in". No kidding.

The only stupid thing about the launch was, as a member of the press, we usually get thrown in a pen of some sort. Instead we were just in a "fan" area with 500 crazy Spice nuts. Not exactly what I had in mind for a swanky launch! Felt a bit Easy jet in fact.

Anyway, enjoy the new Virgin terminal.

Also - Kirsty from the office eagerly took my ticket to go off to the Verve last night! Her words about the gig were as follows: "It was the best gig ever but Richard Ashcroft has bleached his hair and looks a bit dodgy - like Ralf Little when he tried bleaching his hair. It was weird." – That’s good to know!
