Paris

Hop on the train to Paris and you could be practising your schoolroom French in almost the same time as it takes to watch an EastEnders omnibus!
Since Eurostar switched to St Pancras, it’s now even quicker to get from London to Paris, taking just over two hours, meaning it’s never been easier to see the sights of Paris and soak up its rich atmosphere. [Get to departures in plenty of time so you can sip a glass of bubbly in Europe's longest champagne bar!]
Although famous as the City of Lovers, Paris also has plenty for families. Take the kids on a boat trip along the River Seine, enjoy a spot of culture at the Musee D'Orsay art gallery or ride on the ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde. Other attractions, such as the Palace of Versailles, Parc Asterix and Disneyland are all easy to get to by rail or road.
Where to stay: The clean and comfortable 3* Grande Hotel de Paris is right next to the railway station in the city centre so you won’t need to carry your bags far!
How much? A mini-break to Paris costs from £124pp including travel by Eurostar and two-nights' B&B booked through ShortBreaks, tel 0870 027 6027 or visit www.short-breaks.com. Eurostar return tickets start at £59, www.eurostar.com.
