Sex and the City Sex and the City

Kim’s still got it

Tuesday 15 January 2008

Actress Kim Cattrall has been critisised for showing her cellulite whilst filming scenes for her movie in a bikini – but we say so what, hurrah, she’s normal!

Plus let’s not forget she’s 51-years-old!!

Kim was filming scenes for the upcoming Sex and the City: The Movie rumoured to be released in cinemas in May.

But if you – unlike Kim – feel self-conscious in a bikini then take note of our nine tips to minimise it:

1. Cold water.

Sounds simple but it does work. Towards the end of your morning shower blast your body paying particular attention to cellulite areas, with cold water. The cold water tightens skin and increases blood circulation, minimising the appearance of cellulite.

2. Flaxseed oil

You can buy this supplement at most health food shops. It contains the Omega oils 3, 6 and 9 which are antioxidants and so help reduce all those free radicals and toxins in your skin which add up to cellulite bumps. Flaxseed oil is found naturally in avocado, walnuts, almonds and oily fish.

3. Body Brushing.

Brushing the body twice a day increases circulation and helps to reduce the signs of cellulite. For maximum benefit, start at the ankles and brush the skin in an upward motion.

4. Massage

Try massaging the troubled area with your favourite body lotion, this will stimulate circulation and improve the tone of your skin.

5. Eat more vegetables

Try to up your intake of green vegetables and berries. They supply your body with antioxidants which are all-important for fighting horrid toxins and encouraging lovely healthy skin.

6. Goji berries

These wonder berries fresh from the US are taking the nation by storm. They’re a deep-red dried fruit containing more vitamin c than an orange and more iron than a steak. They act as a fantastic cellulite beater as they are packed with antioxidants. Eat them on their own or mixed into muesli, yogurt or smoothies.

7. Power Plates

Available at you local gym and at David Lloyd centres, these wonder plates give the shake the body helping to eliminate cellulite. A mere 10 minutes on the machine equates to 40 minutes exercise. The sessions can be quite expensive but they do give the cellulite a real bashing.

8. Inch loss body wrap kits

Can be impressive – but the results won’t last long. A good bet for a night out in a short skirt or that first day in a new bikini! Available online, these kits aim to detoxify the body, shape your figure and remove cellulite.  You simply apply a gel to the area and wrap in a heat retaining film.

9 Last but not least…those famous firming creams.

There are hundreds on the market today which claim to visibly reduce the signs of cellulite and firm the skin.  Closer’s beauty team reckon big name brands such as Clarins, Garnier, and Roc have some impressive creams, which may help towards reducing the signs of cellulite.

I am a Personal trainer and I say:
You cannot do anything to get rid of cellulite, unfortunately its part of your genetics and men get it too!
Dont worry because we all have it, but it does look better if your tanned and toned! Go to the gym!!
