Pete Doherty

Pete plays parties for just £100

Friday 08 February 2008

Rock star Pete Doherty is available for hire for just £100 for a night.

The 20-year-old Babyshambles frontman made one girl’s dreams come true recently by playing at her birthday party – and has since received hundreds of requests for hire at other occasions.

A source said: “The birthday girl’s dad told him she was a huge fan and that he’d give him £100 to perform at her party. Pete was flattered and happy to oblige.

“He turned up and played his big hits. Everyone had a great time. Some partygoers asked him when he was going to start making dogs out of balloons. He took it in good humour. It made her day and now she’s a very popular girl with her pals.

“Her dad told the local paper and Pete has been bombarded with requests to play since.”

It is being reported that Pete has fallen on hard times after splitting up with supermodel Kate Moss, and agreed to the gig to make some quick cash.

When he was with the Libertines, he often used to charge £10 entry to his London flat to earn extra money.

Now it seems Pete’s agent has received hundreds of requests for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.

Other performers have been known to charge far more for private gigs:

Celine Dion was paid £3.1million by The Sultan of Brunei in 1997.

Kylie Minogue received £970,000 for a 40-minute show for Barcelona businessmen in 2004.

George Michael was offered £1.5million to play at a Russian billionaire’s house on New Year’s Eve

Christina Aguilera made £1.2million for singing two songs at a wedding in 2005.
