Ever wanted to know the secret behind Jessica Alba’s bikini body? Or wondered how supermodels really stay runway thin? Well all has been revealed in a new book that uncovers all the diet secrets of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
From Angelina Jolie to Cindy Crawford, The Black Book of Hollywood Diet Secrets takes you inside the fridges of some of the most famous faces in the world, to discover how the A-list stars really keep their bodies in shape.
Showbiz writers Kym Douglas and Cindy Pearlman grill a whole host of celebs, including Sienna Miller, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry to find out their diet secrets and top slimming tips.
Here are a few even we were shocked to read!
Snack on chocolate
That’s right, Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has revealed that her secret to staying in shape is to reach for a bar of chocolate.
Her nutritionist, Oz Garcia, whose clients also include Hillary Swank, advises eating a bar of at least 70% dark chocolate as part of your diet.
The chocolate is said to help you burn fat, increase lean muscle mass, improve your skin and hair, give you more energy, and flatten your stomach.
We think Kim’s onto a winner with this one!
Hot and spicy
To beat the bloat before slipping into her red-carpet gowns, Angelina Jolie adds chilies to her meals.
According to celebrity nutritionist Jackie Keller, foods that are very spicy, like a chili, cause our bodies to let go of any excess water, which prevents that bloated feeling.
Order two courses
Heidi Klum and Cindy Crawford have revealed that the secret to staying supermodel slim is to have a starter before dinner.
The pair confessed to always eating a salad with vinegar on it before going out for a meal.
The vinegar is said to kill hunger pangs and stop you from attacking the bread basket while you’re waiting for your meal.
The cookie diet
Developed by celebrity dietitians Jamie Kabler and Larry Turne, the cookie diet is a fast growing trend in Hollywood.
Stars such as Kelly Clarkson and Mandy Moore follow a strict diet of three cookies a day, in place of breakfast and lunch, followed by a healthy dinner.
According to the creators, this diet works because you are restricting the body’s intake of calories.
And if that wasn’t enough they also advise taking a break from the diet at least once a month – with a two-day juice fast.
Hmm, sounds a bit extreme to us!
Cherry aid
She may have lost the baby weight in record time, but as Katie Holmes knows, beginning any intensive workout comes complete with aching muscles.
However, there is now an easy way to ease the pain after a workout – drink a glass of cherry juice.
A recent study at the University of Vermont found that antioxidant and anti-inflammatory elements in pure cherry juice reduce muscle soreness and cut recovery time after exercise.
Plus the juice has only 130 calories per serving and counts as two fruits in your daily diet.
Try serving it over crushed ice for a refreshing cool down after a workout.
Tea-time
Unsurprisingly, Oprah Winfrey says one of the most common questions she gets asked is how she managed to lose weight.
And it seems the answer is as simple as an afternoon tea-break.
The US chat show host says she swears by Wulong Slimming Tea to beat the bulge.
Studies have found that Wulong suppresses fat build up and prevents the body from gaining weight.
Health-promoting compounds like polyphenols, which are said to have anti-cancer and anti-aging benefits, and catechins, which are high in antioxidants, are also stronger in Wulong tea than any other, because it is hand picked, meaning it uses the best leaves from the tea plant.
Apple secret
Ever wondered how Demi Moore maintains her fantastic figure?
Well when she gets a sweet craving, the 45-year-old snacks on apple slices with peanut butter instead of reaching for the biscuits.
She says the sweet taste tackles the craving, but doesn’t ruin her diet.
Hollywood workouts
The stars also revealed their daily workout regimes; some more surprising than others.
Did you know that Teri Hatcher, Kate Hudson and Lindsay Lohan have all ditched the gym in favour of pole dancing?
Or that Lucy Liu opts for daily stretches instead of her treadmill?
Dress to lose weight
But it seems that the real secrets may be hiding more in the A-list wardrobes than their fridges.
A long list of stars, including Jessica Alba, Tyra Banks, Oprah Winfrey, Marcia Cross and Tori Spelling, have all revealed their pre-party essential ingredient are those Bridget-style knickers, the one and only Spanx pants.
This body shaping underwear nips in waistlines and instantly cuts inches off the stomach, hips, bum and thighs.
And, to look both taller and thinner in an instant, take a tip from Cameron Diaz, Jessica Simpson and Gwen Stefani and pick wedges over heels.
A careful choice of footwear can elongate the legs as well as making you look taller and thinner overall.
