Leona's No.1 in USA
Friday 28 March 2008
Leona Lewis yesterday became the first British female singer to reach No.1 in America for 21 years.
Her single Bleeding Love, which was a massive hit in the UK as well, has shot to the top of the charts Stateside and reports indicate she could be bank rolling millions from her success across the pond.
All this success though hasn’t yet made her rich enough to afford a house in the ridiculous London property market. Leona has always maintained she wants to buy a house where she grew up, in Hackney but she and her boyfriend just can’t get an offer accepted on any houses because the vendors keep increasing the price when they know it’s a celeb that’s interested. Recently a house price was increased by £100,000 after Leona had put in a bid of £500,000.
A friend said, "It was quite upsetting. They had their heart set on a property and offered the asking price. But the seller thought as Leona was a pop star she could afford more, so upped the price. It's cruel."
