Mr Showbiz' manic week!
Thursday 15 May 2008
So many events, so little time. I have been pushing myself to the limits of exhaustion once again to bring you all the latest news and gossip. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
Living TV’s Summer Schedule Launch - and being groped by a Cheeky Girl!
The strange thing about my job is that sometimes you get thrown into weird situations. And it doesn’t get much weirder than my trip at lunchtime today to attend the launch of Living TV’s scorching summer schedule.
The guys at the TV company threw a posh lunch for celebs and press at the Dorchester Hotel’s China Tang restaurant.
I was slightly startled to be sat next to one of the Cheeky Girls, Gabriela Irimia who is newly engaged to politician Lembit Opik.
As we started speaking when the starters were served she put her hand on my knee. A few minutes later her hand was once again touching my leg – although this time it was slightly higher. By the end of the lunch her hand was right at the top of my thigh.
I was starting to think maybe I should have said something. In the end I didn’t – she was just being, er, cheeky, I guess!
Gabriela seems like a nice girl anyway – and she forced as much food as possible into her gob. She couldn’t manage that much in her tight corset! And apparently her sister Monica didn’t touch a thing. No wonder those girls are so thin!
The programme line-up for the summer looks set to be a good one with huge shows like Brooke Shield’s show Lipstick Jungle, Britain’s Next Top Model and a new show called Dieting and Dancing.
They also announced Kelly Brook has signed up to be a judge on Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life Series 2. Kelly wasn’t at the launch but recorded a message that was played out on screens at the lunch.
I have to admit I think it’s a little bit of an odd career move for Kelly. There I was thinking she was going to be a film and television actress??? I guess a large wad of cash changed that – or maybe she does just really love Dirty Dancing!
Also at the event were Yvette Fielding, Lisa Snowdon and Lisa Scott Lee - who looks in fabulous shape since giving birth very recently.
LK Today High Street Fashion Awards with The Perfume Shop
I hopped over to Café De Paris for the LK Today High Street Fashion Awards with The Perfume Shop. Kelly Osbourne collected an award for best dressed celebrity and told me all about her new man – a hot 18-year-old Burberry model. The full details will be in next week’s column!
Kelly brought along Davinia Taylor to the event and the pair went off to party at Kate Moss’s house afterwards. The waif supermodel decided to throw a bash for Kelly after she was nominated for her first Sony Radio Academy Award.
The awards were on the same night but Kelly unfortunately lost out – it’s still a great thing to be nominated for such a prestigious gong at the ripe old age of 23! Well done Kel.
The LK bash was ace and I ended up catching up with Myleene Klass (who looked delicious in a pink dress), Abi Titmuss and former Hollyoaks star Stefan Booth.
Stefan recently became a dad for the first time and he was carrying a beautiful picture of his daughter in his shirt pocket for people to coo over. I cooed big time with Myleene – congratulations to him!
He said being a father is the best thing he’s ever done. Bless.
Also at the event were Lorraine Kelly, Project Catwalk’s Nick Ede, Mark Hayes, Caprice and Booty Luv.
Sex and the City World Premiere
Sex and the City swept into London town on Monday for its official World Premiere. It was a circus and a half!
I’ve actually not been to a premiere of that craziness for years – the crowds went absolutely wild when the celebrity cars started to arrive.
Hilariously the first car that pulled up was blacked out and looked as if Sarah Jessica Parker was going to tumble out but the crowd started to boo when WAG Alex Curran stepped out looking cheap as chips in her footballer’s wives getup.
She must have been gutted to realise she was actually the lowest rent celebrity at the event…..
The guest list, aside from SJP, Kim Catrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, included Lisa Snowdon, Tess Daly, Davina McCall, Donna Air, the Sugababes, Vivienne Westwood, Nelly and Kelly Rowland.
I’d love to be able to tell you about the film – but all journalists were banned from the film and the party. Extremely disappointing. Does this mean the flick’s a dud? Or is it that they don’t want people to reveal the plot?
Whatever the reason, I hear nobody of the cast dies in the film and it’s left fully open for a sequel. Hoorah.
