Brad and Ange get charitable
Thursday 26 June 2008
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to a children’s charity that supports American and Iraqi children suffering affected by the war.
Angelina said of the charity Education Partnership for Children of Conflict: "These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal."
Ange co-founded the charity in 2007 and they’ve decided that $500,000 will go to the Armed Service YMCA Operation Hero Program, which helps educate and emotionally support children of military personnel serving in Iraq.
The other $500,000 will go to groups dealing with Iraqi women and children struggling to learn, or simply survive. In all, 5,700 Iraqi children and 300 women will benefit.
Brad said of their generous (and very public) donation: "We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations."
Hmmm, if only we all had a spare $1 million lying around to donate to the charities we’ve founded!
