Britney Spears

Britney's back in court

Friday 19 September 2008

Britney Spears will be heading back to the courtroom next month to face charges of driving without a valid license.

It is understood that Brit’s lawyers never expected the case to reach a trial, but it seems the courts want to make an example of her.

The singer bumped into another car in August last year, and not only did she walk off without leaving a note, but the whole thing was caught on camera. When it later emerged that Britney was not in possession of a valid California driving license the matter became even more serious and after the other driver filed a complaint, Britters was charged with misdemeanour hit-and-run and driving without a valid license.

It all gets a bit complicated from here on in because although Britney paid off the other driver and the complaint was dropped, and although her lawyer is arguing that her Louisiana license is still valid, she’s still being taken to court.

We’ll keep you updated on the verdict.

RE: Britney's back in court

Nooo, Britney has finally got back on track, I don't think they need to make an example of her.
It annoys me that theres so many people in this world who get away with things like this [this happened to me and the police wouldn't follow up my complaint, I had the drivers neg plate and everything] and yet they want to make examples of famous people as if to deter others from doing it. They shouldn't make examples of people, everyone should get equal punishments and if the other driver was happy to accept a pay out and drop the complaint then it should have stayed that way. This person probably just wants more money and some publicity. Britney wasn't in a fit state of mind when she's done most things recently, so give her a chance and leave her alone!

RE: Britney's back in court

I disagree - Britney has broken the law on two occasions here, driving without a valid license and committing what's effectively a hit and run, so why should she not be punished for it? And if she wasn't in a fit state of mind because she's dozed up on prescription drugs or laxatives or whatever she shouldn't be driving in the first place.
