EastEnders under threat

EastEnders has been hit by extreme threats from Muslims furious over one of the show’s story lines.

This week saw character Masood Ahmed break his Ramadan fast, which has caused hundreds of complaints from viewers. Amongst the complaints were some threats to the show’s bosses posted on internet sites.

Security at the studio has now been stepped up in anticipation of an attack on the EastEnder’s crew.

One blogger wrote: “This is a slur on all Muslims. Those involved should pay the ultimate sacrifice. Why should our religion be used for a cheap laugh.”

The show’s producers have defended the story line as an attempt to show the “fallibility of Masood”

Who are these people who complain. If I don't like something I see on TV, I just switch over or something. I don't send in complaints!
People do break their Ramadan. Not because they are having a go at their religion, but it does happen. People break their fasting before Easter too. I wouldn't suggest those that do should 'pay the ultimate sacrifice'!

absoloutly ridiculous. Once again that 'special card' is bought out. maybe they will say they should ban Christmas on Eastenders next...

I agree with Jemma 1123 i hate some things on t.v so i just change the channel.
Eastenders it the best soap in my opinion and some muslims do break Ramadan but they dont mean anything by it.
If you dont like what happends on Eastenders then DONT WATCH IT !!!

I think it's amusing that some ppl who are supposed to be very religious and know right from wrong moan so much and say such extreme things over a soap opera! Come on ppl stop being so sad and pathetic. If anyone thinks ALL Muslims do what they ‘should’ 100% of the time? they need help asap as there deluded since no-one is like that!

I can see how Muslim's could get offended by this story line and it's fair enough of them to complain but if there was a Christian family on a T.V programme and say one of the members had sex before marriage or something, I very much doubt that people would ring up to complain, so it's a bit daft blowing something out of proportion-it's just a soap-not real life! And I'm sure it's really really difficult not eating for so long so maybe the producers of EastEnders were trying to show that. They would be slated if they didn't have different races and religions shown on it, and they're slated when they do aswell-can't win can they?!
