Celebrity Diet Secrets: Ali Bastian

The Bill actress, Ali, 25, tells us what’s in her fridge
Where do you shop?
Tesco because it’s near home. I go in every day rather than doing a weekly shop, so I spend far more than I should!
What is your typical daily diet?
I’ve just bought a juicer, so I’ll have a home-made carrot, apple and broccoli juice when I wake up. Then muesli and coffee at work and a salad or sushi for lunch. My partner [London Irish rugby player Nick Kennedy, 26] usually cooks dinner. He has to eat a lot of protein so he cooks a lot of meat, which is fine by me – I just make sure I eat smaller portions than him!
What’s your favourite comfort food?
I’m a chocoholic! I love Green & Black’s, and can easily munch my way through a whole Milka bar!
Do you ever diet?
No. I believe in eating three healthy meals a day.
What’s your most memorable meal?
I cook an Italian-themed Christmas dinner for my girlfriends every year. I make a huge lasagne with garlic bread and we have such a laugh.
What’s your favourite drink?
I’ll have champagne if I’m out with the girls.
Nutritionist Barbara Wilson says:
“Ali’s morning fruit and veg juice may give her a nutrient boost, but it can also be high in sugar and lack valuable fibre. Pairing her juice with a wholegrain food will help lower its GI rating and could help Ali tame her sweet tooth. Smoothies, which pulp the fruit and so retain the fibre, are a better choice and more filling, too.”
