Fern's suicide bid

Fern Britton has revealed that she was once so depressed she considered committing suicide, and even went so far as to start taking the pills.

Fern’s confession will shock viewers of This Morning who are used to seeing the cheery presenter every day. Fern said that after the breakdown of her first marriage she suffered a severe period of depression: “There were days I could hardly get out of bed. I was so seriously depressed I needed medication. It was very tough.

“One afternoon I decided I couldn’t bear the pain any longer and I sat down and opened a bottle of paracetamol.

“I tipped the bottle, poured myself a handful of pills and swigged them down with whiskey. I didn’t take the whole bottle, as if I didn’t know whether or not it was what I wanted.”

Fern went on to credit her recovery to her budding relationship with husband Phil Vickery. The presenter said: “I wasn’t looking for anyone. But there he was out of the blue. The chemistry was instant.”

Well thank the Lord for Phil; we’d be lost without our daily dose of Fern!

I do feel sorry for Fern for having to feel this way but why does she have to share it with the world? Lots of people suffer from depression and many people feel suicidal and it really is awfull but it's not something you should broadcast I don't think?

People can be so fickle!! They might not want to hear about Fern's depression yet expect her to have told the world about her gastrict band operation!!!

I didn't expect her to tell anyone about that. The whole problem with that was not that she had a gastric band, it's because she didn't tell her agent guy so he kept denying it and then she decided to announce it on This Morning. I just don't think people should really share suicide stories cos it gives people bad ideas.
