Celebrity diet secrets: Jennifer Metcalfe

Hollyoaks actress Jennifer, 25, tells us what’s in her fridge
Where do you usually shop?
At Tesco Express near my flat in Liverpool or Marks & Spencer, which is about a 25-minute drive away. I’ll spend about £50 if I’m stocking up for the week.
What’s your typical daily diet?
I always have Frosties and buttered toast for breakfast, then maybe a baked potato with baked beans for lunch, and a salmon stir-fry for tea. Pudding might be choc chip cookies or a sticky toffee pudding. For a snack, I’ll have fruit, crisps or biscuits.
What’s your favourite comfort food?
Häagen Dazs Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream.
What’s your favourite drink?
I love a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio rosé.
What three foods would you take to a desert island?
Spare ribs, toast covered in lashings of butter and some strawberries.
What’s your most memorable meal?
I went to a gorgeous pan-Asian fusion restaurant in Camden, north London, called Gilgamesh with friends, where I had some really tasty spare ribs.
Nutritionist Barbara Wilson says:
“Jennifer’s breakfast of sugary cereal and buttery toast is full of refined, high GI carbohydrates and saturated fats. With a breakfast like this, it’s no wonder she’s having high GI baked potatoes and snacking on biscuits in the day to try and maintain that sugar high. Eating fibre-rich cereal like porridge instead could help Jennifer curb her sugar cravings.”
