Experts reveal link between cancer and obesity
Wednesday 05 November 2008
In a timely pre-Christmas gluttony warning, a cancer expert has revealed that the number of people suffering from cancer could double within the next 40 years unless steps are taken to stem rising obesity.
Professor Martin Wiseman, of the World Cancer Research Fund, explains: “The evidence now shows that, after not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight is the most important thing you can do for cancer prevention.”
Links have been found between excess body fat and cancer of the bowel, breast, womb, oesophagus, kidney and pancreas, so following a healthy, balanced diet has never been more important.
