John Sergeant

John Sergeant quits Strictly Come Dancing

Thursday 20 November 2008

In the latest reality TV shocker, John Sergeant has quick-stepped out of Strictly Come Dancing.

His decision to leave follows a frenzy of media attention surrounding his continuing presence in the show.

The British public, ever a fan of the eccentric and the underdog, have taken a real shine to the balding, tubby political journalist.

To the annoyance of the show’s judges, people have been voting to keep him in, despite the judges’ constant ridicule of his inadequacies as a dancer.

The old twinkle-toes himself said it was a “frightening thought” that he could have won and denied being bullied out.

John said that the joke had “worn thin” and said that he wanted to leave before there was a “bloody battle”.

Bruce Forsyth said, “I’m sorry for John. He must have felt so guilty” and politician Peter Mandelson described John as “the people’s John Travolta”!  Steady on Mandy!

Laura White being voted off the X-Factor?  John Sergeant becoming the tragic hero of Strictly Come Dancing?  Whatever next we wonder – the feuding Robert Kilroy-Silk and Carly Zucker getting it on in the jungle?

We wait with bated breath...

RE: John Sergeant quits Strictly Come Dancing

I feel sorry for John. It's all got out of hand as usual. Unlike X Factor, Strictly is meant to be a bit of fun, a light hearted family show. It's been turned into some big professional dancing competition.

It's not like the contestants are average Joe's who are depending on this show to thrust them into a career in the media. They already have careers, which is why they are referred to as celebrities.

The viewing public were the one's voting to keep him in, and they are the one's who pay for their tv licence, therefore paying for shows like Strictly. If they wanted to see him stay, then he should have stayed. It wouldn't have been a disaster even if he had won, like i said the show is meant to be a bit of fun. I don't agree with what's happened with the voting on the X Factor because it's messing with the future's of talented singers who need that break. On that show, there is no room for the one's we just feel sorry for. On this one however, viewers can do what they want, and they shouldn't feel guilty for it. Neither should John.
