Celebrity diet secrets: Yvette Fielding
Monday 12 January 2009
TV presenter Yvette, 40, tells us what’s in her fridge
Where do you shop?
Waitrose – they do a great organic range. We spend £150-£200 a week, which is normal for a family of four [Yvette has children William, 13, and Mary, eight] and three dogs.
What’s your typical daily diet?
Breakfast is pain au chocolat, strawberries and yoghurt; lunch is a spinach and tomato salad with dressing. For dinner, my husband [TV presenter Karl Beattie, 45] will cook something like Mexican rice, then we’ll have fruit pie and custard and a glass of wine.
Do you ever diet?
All the time! I’m forever trying to whittle down my stomach.
Anything you won’t eat?
Liver and kidneys. They’re nauseating!
What three foods would you take to a desert island?
Cranberry juice for a healthy bladder, a delicious probiotic yoghurt and strawberries.
What’s your favourite comfort food?
If I’m tired, I’ll have chicken fried rice, chips and Chinese curry sauce. It’s just heaven.
What special dish would you cook to impress a man?
My husband is a vegetarian, so I’d impress him with roast potatoes in garlic. It’s so easy!
What’s your favourite drink?
A glass of wine after a hard day’s filming.
Nutritionist Catherine Matthews says:
“Yvette’s trying to whittle her waistline, but her daily diet isn’t helping. A pain au chocolate is a high-fat, high-sugar way to start the day, and this trend continues with salad dressing, which can be full of fat and sugar too, and fruit pie with custard. She could also ditch roast potatoes and her nightly glass of wine. They should be treats, not for every day!”
Fridge health rating: 5/10
