Victoria Beckham is said to be devastated after X Factor judge Cheryl Cole revealed she didn’t support her when news broke of her husband Ashley’s alleged infidelity.

When Cheryl’s world collapsed last January – after hairdresser Aimee Walton, 22, claimed Ashley, 28, had a fling with her in December 2007 – she was shocked not to receive a call from Posh, who she’d grown close to during the 2006 World Cup.

And last week during an interview, the 25 year old expressed her disappointment at the lack of contact, saying: “I mean, David’s mum is friends with Ashley’s mum, she [Victoria] was in my hotel room the whole time during the World Cup – we’ve had barbecues together. So I was quite shocked by that.”

But now Victoria, who suffered similar public humiliation when her husband David, 33, was accused of having a fling with Rebecca Loos in 2004, is distraught by Cheryl’s comments and is telling pals that she didn’t contact her out of respect.

A source told Closer: “Victoria does care about Cheryl, but she felt it was more respectful to leave her alone.
“She’s incredibly private and sensitive, and assumed that Cheryl would also want her space. She just wants to forget about what happened with David, because it was the most horrendous time.”

According to insiders, Victoria, 34, has totally changed her friendship group since moving to LA in 2007. A pal added: “After they moved, Victoria changed her friends and career and cut out all the people who she didn’t feel suited her family.”

Posh’s friendship with Cheryl had already cooled following the World Cup. Sources say she wanted to distance herself and David from the lavish footballer party scene in the UK.

“Phoning Cheryl would have raised so many negative memories and emotions from the past – she didn’t want to go there,” added our source. “Victoria hoped the pair would always be friends, but it’s unlikely that’s going to happen now.”

Can understand Victoria's reasons. I'm sure Cheryl had enough friends there for her at the time.
Just because she's been to bbq's with the Beckham's doesn't mean there bezzy mates does it!
Their husbands just happen to be in the footy buisness! I think Cheryl just wanted to name drop in the press when she's been talking about Ashley's affair.
Ive had lots of bbq's with my blokes footy team mates and wife's,and i can't remember half their names nevermind what they look like! ; )

Yeah I totally with the above comment
Cheryl's probably got much closer friends than Victoria who were able to be there for her, and it must've been difficult for Victoria to re-live the feelings of when it happened for her. Some might say thats a reason why she should have been there for Cheryl, but unless it's the closest friend in the world, I know I would find it difficult to go through it all.

I was a bit disappointed to read that Cheryl had said those things in the first place, it's a bit unfair. And if she so desperately needed Victoria's help over any of the other people pictured helping her during that time, then could Cheryl not have phoned Victoria...?!

I agree also. Cheryl will have had so many people around to support her her at the time. If it had been me i think i'd have been glad of a bit of space. And if Victoria had been in contact with her at that time, people would have only said she was doing it for publicity.

I totally agree with Posh, Cheryl is just making herself look like shes out for publicity to push for sales of that interview. Makes her look unloyal and bitchy. Shes hogged the limelight enough and has been in showbiz long enough to know that it could all end tomorrow. She should shut up and enjoy while shes got it cos lets face it other than being really pretty shes not that good a singer or performer. As a solo artist she would get nowhere unless she ended up presenting.

You didn't get in touch because it was too upsetting for you, OR you didn't get in touch out of respect? Your friendship with Cheryl had cooled, OR you'd hoped you would always be friends? I'm not surprised Cheryl was confused.

it doesnt matter the reason a friend is a friend and if ther any kind of a fried theyll b ther 2 comfort them when ther down no matter the reason. victoria shuld av bn ther for cheryl and its nt right 2 say cheryls in the rong about this she prob wnted sum advices from some1 thts bn in tht situation instead of havin a bunch of ppl ther tht dnt no wat ther tlkin bout n avent experienced tht kind of pain and betrayl!!!!!!!

vb is famous for being married to db.(randy asked a contestant on american idol do you know who this is and pointed at vb,the reply was yes shes famous for being db wife)Cheryl will be global.vb changed (dropped)her friends when she moved to la,sounds like shes jealous of Cheryl,Cheryl can sing,dance,and is a fashoin icon(sounds more like vb is jealous of Cheryl,If it wasnt for Cheryl at the world cup vb would of been on her own(she looks down at other wags and distances herself from them)Cheryl seems to be a lifelong friend not a name dropper either,everyone who meets Cheryl says she is so down to earth and helpful,
