Look and feel sexy this Valentines!

Wednesday 04 February 2009
For some of us the prospect of a romantic night in sounds like a complete nightmare - and the idea of our partners seeing us fully naked, pffttt, no thanks!

Closer Online have compiled top tips to ensure you feel fabulous and confident enough to share your body this Valentines!

* First off, how can anybody else love your bod if you don’t!? Concentrate on appreciating your good parts and forgetting about those parts you don’t particularly like!

When you’re alone try standing in front of the mirror and pointing out the bits of your body you actually like. Concentrate on your perky boobs or your slim waist and forget about those not-so-slender thighs or stretch-marked bum!
Nobody else notices them but you – especially not in the heat of the moment!

* Spending a little time with just you and your body is important.
Spend time exfoliating – If you want your skin to look healthy and radiant, do it regularly. By removing the top layer of dead epidermis cells, you will make your skin appear smoother and less wrinkled. Here are a few steps to help you achieve, healthy looking, clear skin.
  1. Brush dry skin before getting into the shower. You can use either a loofah, exfoliating gloves, or a body exfoliating brush. Start at the soles of the feet and work your way up.
  2. Get into the bath or shower and wet your entire body.
  3. Apply exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or exfoliating brush or gloves.
  4. Scrub your body with it, using gentle, circular motions.
  5. Opt for grainy types of cleansers to clean the skin, rather than soap. Choose exfoliating cleansers that contain ingredients such as oatmeal, ground almonds or sea salt. The grainy texture exfoliates the skin.
  6. Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.
  7. Be sure to use body moisturisers after exfoliating! Regular exfoliating is extremely drying to the skin and will do more harm than good unless you rehydrate liberally with lotions!
* Chose flattering underwear that makes you feel sexy. If you don't like the cellulite on you bum then go for lacy French knickers and if you’re conscious about your stomach then opt for a Basque. You can find all sorts of lacy, racy and almost-innocent lingerie everywhere right now!

(Remember that it’s important to dress up once in a while if you want to feel confident – and that includes your underwear. Wearing faded granny pants will make you feel totally unsexy no matter how amazing your body is!)

* If it's clothing we're talking about, for goodness' sake, forget the tackiness of wearing red and pink on Valentine's Day - don't you think it's a little overdone!?

If you’re heading out on a blissfully romantic evening, stick to a LBD for style and comfort and accessorize to your heart’s content!

* Looking for something sexy sans costume? Invest in a good bikini wax – or if you’re brave enough try your own home kit!

  1. Clean your skin thoroughly, preferably with an exfoliant or a product that functions as an exfoliator.
  2. To keep the area dry before you apply the hot wax strips, you may want to apply a thin dusting of baby powder to your skin.
  3. Carefully read the bikini waxing instructions that are included in the kit to make sure you understand the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  4. Heat the wax as instructed, apply it to the cloth strips and place the strips on the area where you want to remove your hair.
  5. When you’ve completed the waxing process, you can apply calamine lotion or baby oil to your skin, which will help to soothe the sensitive area.
