Fern and Phil salary shocker

Fern Britton will be gutted to find out that co-presenter Phillip Schofield is set to rake in three times her wage for hosting the next series of All Star Mr And Mrs.
Fern, 51, is reported to earn £15,000 for each show, while Phil, 46, is being paid £45,000!
Apparently the enormous difference in salaries is due to savvy Schofield's exclusive £2million contract, which he signed with ITV last September.
A source said: "Fern asked for the same pay cheque as Phil. But there isn't a huge production budget. Phillip's pay is basically pre-agreed, while Fern is only on an exclusive daytime deal.
"Fern won't be aware of this pay difference."
Well, she probably will be now! The pair have been presenting ITV's This Morning together for years, and Fern is said to have agreed to work on the second Mr and Mrs series only if she received the same pay as her pal.
But maybe Fern's 'low' wages explain why she has to resort to wear second-hand outfits?
The presenter appeared on yesterday's This Morning in a clingy white dress that looked suspiciously like it had been nicked from the Star Wars set.
Watch out Fern, Princess Leia wants her costume back!

that's not fair. either fern should get the same as phil or phil should get the same as fern.
or maybe they both shouldnt get paid as much. ya kno.. with the recession and that..

Oh the poor thing,15k a show is awful,how on earth will she cope!!
She'l be shopping at primark at this rate!
Have to agree with Racheal though,they should get paid the same,there doing exactly the same job!
Somehow though if she moans about it,it might backfire,everybody's cutting back,even "celebs"arnt safe were money is concerned!
That dress is awful,looks like she's been rumaging through the costume department of life on mars!! yuk!

I dont think Fern is saying 15k is not enough wages I think its the principle of the whole thing. If they are doing the same job then why should he get paid 3x more. But what i want to know is if the recession exists in tv and film land how come they can be paid that much. I bet u it will be all the staff that work behind the scenes that will be threatened with pay cuts and job losses. If thats the case i wonder how many of these presenters/celebs/actors would offer to sacrifice a cut in pay so that those in more need of the money can keep their jobs. Not many i bet

I agree with lovingmum. If anyone should receive a backlash, it is Philip and he should take a 1/3 reduction in his salary. Men have dominated the workplace for far too long and employers should do away with such prehistoric work ethics/employment contracts!
