Celebrity Diet Secrets: Kim Wilde
Monday 09 February 2009
Radio DJ Kim, 48, tells us what’s in her fridge
Where do you shop?
Mostly at our village shops. Then I visit Waitrose or Tesco once a week for the rest.
What’s your typical daily diet?
Breakfast is yoghurt, seeds and dried fruit. I have home-made soup for lunch, and meat or fish with veg for dinner.
Do you ever diet?
I don’t believe in diets, but sometimes I cut back.
What’s your most memorable meal?
The first time I ate green curry in Thailand, 20 years ago. It was one of the best culinary experiences I ever had and I now cook it regularly.
What is your favourite comfort food?
Egg mayonnaise sandwiches.
What would you cook to impress a man?
I’m married and no longer need to snare a man, but my 10-year-old son Harry is partial to my dumpling stew!
What’s your favourite drink?
During the day I love peppermint tea. In the evening I like a glass of dry white wine.
What is the most unusual ingredient in your fridge?
We make our own horseradish sauce from the roots in the garden.
Kim Wilde presents Magic’s Secret Songs on Sunday from 12pm on Magic 105.4.
Nutritionist Catherine Matthews says:
“Kim has an excellent diet, packed full of fruit, vegetables and lean protein sources. Growing her own food is a top way to save money and Kim can also grow vegetables organically in her garden. No wonder she’s in such good shape for her age – it’s almost certainly due to her healthy food choices and sensible attitude to dieting.”
Fridge Health Rating: 9/10
