Rihanna 'assaulted' by boyfriend Chris Brown

After much speculation it is now being reported that the unnamed woman who was allegedly assaulted by R&B star Chris Brown is indeed his girlfriend, pop star Rihanna.

The Barbadian-born beauty was taken to hospital with bite marks and 'visible injuries' after a row with Brown escalated.

The young couple, who are rumoured to be engaged after just a year of dating each other, had earlier attended a party together and seemed 'very lovey-dovey' according to a source. But as the evening progressed, the couple started arguing.

LAPD spokeswoman April Harding, who refused to confirm Rihanna's identity, said: "Brown and the woman were inside a vehicle. According to the victim they became involved in an argument. The argument then turned into an altercation."

Both Chris and Rihanna were due to appear at the Grammys later that day but both cancelled due to the circumstances.

Rihanna's father has spoken out about the incident and urged his daughter to leave Chris. Ronald Fenty, 55, said:

"I don't think she should stay with someone who beat her up. It'll have to be her decision but Chris definitely won't get my vote."
