Joaquin Phoenix' weird interview

Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix has sparked fears amidst his fans that he is back on the booze after a bizarre appearance on David Letterman's TV show.

During the shambolic ten minute interview, Joaquin was slurring his words, chewing gum and refused to answer any of the questions properly.

The 34-year-old looked confused with his head bowed and seemed to be blanking the show host, who was struggling to get Joaquin to talk.

When David asked his guest why he left acting to persue a career as, erm, a rapper, Phoenix just replied: "I don't know."

Letterman bravely soldiered on, trying to talk to his guest about his latest film, Two Lovers, in which he stars with Gwyneth Paltrow, but to no avail.

Joaquin has battled alcoholism in the past and prompted concerns for his well-being since announcing his retirement from acting last October.

He made a shambolic debut as a rapper in Las Vegas last month, that saw him falling off stage after performing only three tracks.
