Chris Brown has been charged with assault following the 'brutal argument' which left his girlfriend Rihanna with shocking facial injuries.

The singer arrived at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County to answer charges of assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

According to a detective's statement, Chris and Rihanna got into a fight after the Umbrella singer found a text message from another woman on his mobile.

The affidavit claims Chris pushed her head against the window, punched and bit her.

It also alleges that he attempted to choke Rihanna during the incident in February.

It said she nearly lost consciousness and her mouth filled with blood, but she fought back and tried to gouge at his eyes.

Rihanna, who is said to have reconciled with Chris, has allegedly told police she will not testify or press charges against her boyfriend.

But according to Californian law, an individual can still be charged with domestic violence even without the victim's ooperation.

If convicted Chris faces up to four years in prison.

good! he deserves to be locked up for what he's done! i hope he is convicted. this wil show non-celebs that you wont be able to get away with doin stuff like this!

rihanna must be thick to get bk with him. they both will lose fans because of this. chris because of whats he's done, & rihanna because people mgiht think she is silly for getting back with him, because he could do it again. & most likely will!

Now i ain sayin he's rite but she should not go trough his phone. Obviosly he's playin round she has 2 do the same thing man.

I was hoping he'd get longer!!...I really hope he gets locked up,its the least he deserves,i was hoping someone would have had a go on him before now!....i hope they still do!
He's a complete waste of space and i hope he ends up with no friends and fans after this.
Rhianna wants her head looking at getting back with the lowlife scum,she can't say nobody warned her!
