Cheryl: 'Stop giving me such a hard time'

Tuesday 29 September 2009

Cheryl cole has always taken juggling her A-list career and supporting her wayward family in Newcastle in her stride, but now it appears The X Factor judge is beginning to feel the strain.

An X Factor source tells Closer: “Cheryl’s not been her usual chirpy self these past few weeks, she’s been hinting that something’s up with her family for a while and she certainly looks miserable.

“During the live auditions she really lost her appetite – she was just picking at the buffet backstage most days. She was also going outside to have cigarettes a lot more.”

The singer, 26, is said to help her family financially, as well as offering emotional support, but last week the star was complaining that sometimes her family expect too much from her.

And pals say her drug-addict brother Andrew has been back in trouble again recently.

Andrew, who Cheryl has always been very close to, has previously been jailed for six years for a stabbing in 1996 and four years for a mugging in 2006.

Just months ago, the 29 year old was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay £250 compensation after admitting to spraying CS gas in a man’s face and carrying a deadly weapon.

The source adds: “Andrew’s back in trouble again – he’s mixing with the wrong crowd and is still into the drug scene. And her mum Joan and older sister Gillian rely on Cheryl to sort out things.

“Cheryl’s offered to help pay for Andrew to go to rehab, but he’s refused as he doesn’t think he can quit drugs. He knows she worries about him and wishes she could help him, but he feels there’s nothing she can do.

“At the moment things are getting on top of Cheryl. She’s not only busy on The X Factor, but has also just released her first solo single, Fight For This Love, and is under a lot of pressure with that. So she’s been having quite a few arguments with her mum and sister Gillian, just over silly things really, but it’s getting her worked up.”

Cheryl is said to have told pals: “I’m getting up at 5am every morning, and work my arse off. I don’t have it all that easy, whereas my family always seem happy to give me a hard time over things when they don’t think I’m pulling my weight in family matters. But my family means more to me than anything.”

Thankfully, her relationship with hubby Ashley is said to be very stable now – after a difficult 2008, when the couple faced allegations he had cheated on her with two women.

“The good thing is that her home life is going well,” says our source. “Obviously she’s not getting to spend that much time with him, but things appear to be good between them.”

They sound like a very selfish family.

And what she's still doing with that waste of a space husband - i'll never know.

Cheryl's brother needs a strong male figure in his life! I'm sure Cheryl and her sister and mother love him to bits but this prick needs a good kick up the backside at the moment! It's time for tough love from his dad if he still cares!

RE: Cheryl: 'Stop giving me such a hard time'

Its nice that she is there for her family both financially and emotionally but just because she is famous and obviously earning more money does not make it right for them to lie back and expect handouts all the time. She can only do so much to help and she does have her own life to deal with so i think they are being selfish. Who cares what anyone thinks of Ashely if shes happy with her marriage and she wants to give it a go why shouldnt she. Too many people are criticised for giving up on their marriage too quickly these days and good for her for wanting to make it work if she thinks theres something worth fighting for. As for her brother until he wakes up to whats going on she will never be able to help him.

RE: Cheryl: 'Stop giving me such a hard time'

So she's up at 5am and working her a**e off, poor lamb - so are lots of us, and looking after families with their particular difficulties, and we don't have the luxury of staff to do things for us or money to throw at problems. I'm sick of these spoiled, talentless women whingeing about how hard their lives are - if Cheryl's finding it all too much, I suggest she packs in the X Factor job and the (so-called) music business and whatever else she apparently does and goes back home - she'll have plenty of time to sort out her terrible life and in six months no-one will remember who she was.

It must be hard dealing with all that when she is young and in the public eye must make it a lot worse.

but, trying not to sound selfish and insensitive, a lot of people are going through thougher times and you have to face up to it. at least she has a secure job, husband and money - all of which are more than others have.

RE: Cheryl: 'Stop giving me such a hard time'

I only found out a few days ago that she smoked... i hope she stops. We all no how messed up her family are though and she can't be sorting them out all the time. I do think she's getting a bit ahead of herself though with all the new jobs she's getting herself. Slow down Cheryl and let someone else have a chance!
