Spring clean your makeup collection
Wednesday 24 February 2010
Do you ever spend ages rummaging around your makeup bag for a product? If so, you might need to give it a spring clean and bin the makeup which is past its shelf life.
No7’s creative director and make-up artist, Lisa Eldridge, has given us the lowdown on when we should throw out beauty products.
And we're going to share her advice with you.
Say goodbye to your mascara after four to six months to reduce the risk of clumpy eyelashes, and worse still, eye infection.
Foundation can be kept for longer, but make sure you replace it after two years otherwise it will clog up your skin with bacterial contamination.
So long as you sharpen your eye pencils regularly, they can last up to three years.
Meanwhile, lip products last longer than other cosmetics. Nevertheless, Lisa says you should treat youself to a new lipstick every so often.
If you’re particularly attached to your makeup brushes, you’re in luck as they can be used for a long time if you wash them in warm soapy water and leave them flat to dry every so often.
It’s good hygiene to frequently update your makeup collection. Many No7 products cost less than £12, so bear them in mind when you next go shopping!
