'My husband loves my shapely legs now!'

Wednesday 20 June 2012

Mum-of-two from Bushey, London

Height: 5ft 4

Start weight: 11st
Current weight: 9st 12lbs

Weight loss this week: 2lbs

There have been so many highlights this week but mainly it has been all about ‘Boot Camp’, a FAB weekend at Prestige Boot Camp in Hyde Park where my two fellow Closer real life dieters and I worked our socks off – in 27 degree heat I would like to add!

The idea was to help shift those pounds and to get us to embrace a healthier and more active lifestyle. I spent most of the week worrying about our weekend away, I knew that it would be highly likely that I would have had very little sleep the night before and that I would most probably start the camp exhausted. I was also imagining being shouted at by a loud man clad in army gear! However, it turned out to be really memorable and has spurred me on to stay on track with the diet.

So the beginning of the week saw the sunny weather continue and I was over the moon to find myself wearing clothes from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe and I even purchased a whole outfit in a size 10 which means that I have now dropped 2 dress sizes!! YAY! I weighed myself on Friday and was 9st 12lbs - that's another 2lbs gone I will be interested to find out if the boot camp helped me shed any more weight but am going to wait until Friday - my weigh in day - to weigh myself and am hoping for a nice surprise! It’s great to have finally passed the 10 stone mark and that mental block I had that the diet would in some way become harder has disappeared. I just have to keep reminding myself to keep an eye on my portion control and my snacking. Now the sun has arrived it has been impossible not to have a cold beer in the evening. However, I opted for a ‘Coors Light’ which at least is low calorie and I must admit that it went down rather well – I will definitely be sticking to those in the future (another first)!

Here I am with Alex in my size 10 outfit!

Well onto Boot Camp (BC) – what an experience! I was a little apprehensive about spending the weekend away from my babies but actually it was just the tonic I needed. When I arrived at BC it was with a heavy heart. I had had a very disturbed night with the kids and was hot, tired and full of trepidation. However, once we had all met each other and we got going with the training I actually found that BC wasn’t so terrible after all. I didn’t do much running, due to knee injuries, but the instructors were great and didn’t push me to do anything that was too much for my body. If I’m honest it felt a little bit like being back in my old PE class with lots of circuit training, boxing (which we all enjoyed) and interval training. The end of day 1 was met with great relief and I enjoyed an evening with Rebecca and Stacey before heading straight to bed, a bit sunburnt and feeling knackered!

Here we are in our boxing gloves! It’s a great way to get rid of stress as well as working out at the same time.

Closer Dieters

Day 2 was hilarious due mainly to the fact that none of us could move. However, we persevered and the day flew by. And by the end of BC my attitude towards exercise had really changed. We were shown so many quick and easy ways to exercise at home that I actually found myself doing some sit-ups and press ups the following morning after returning home. It’s so easy just to do a quick burst of exercise for 10 minutes in your own home. It was great to meet my fellow Closer dieters - Stacey and Rebecca and we definitely all bonded on Boot Camp and it was so good to swap dieting stories, tips and experiences. We all came to the same conclusion, that basically we all just love eating too much of the wrong kinds of foods!

As I said one of the key things about Boot Camp was that it refocused my energies onto continuing with my diet and I have been really good since returning home. I think getting a bit of sun and treating myself to a haircut has also motivated me. This week I have been enjoying wholemeal pitta bread – this is a big deal for me being a white bread addict. So I have been eating that for lunch with chicken and salad, or with prawns and have found it really filling. In fact, I can’t see me ever wanting the white bread alternative now!

I am looking forward to receiving some Reebok Slendertone trainers this week and will be trying to wear them as much as possible when out and about with the pram. The toning shoes are meant to provide cushioning and create micro-instability as you walk helping you get toned legs and a better bum! They sound great and anything that does the work for you has got to be good.

I have had lots of positive feedback this week – especially from Paul (hubby) who can really notice a big difference in my size and shape now, especially my legs - I wore shorts for the first time this year and he commented how shapely they have become - yay! It's hard to notice these things yourself so it's great to know that people can see a real change in me. I put some photos from Boot Camp on Facebook and got loads of positive comments which I was really pleased about, if a little embarrassed!

This week will certainly take some topping but here's to another positive week next week!
