'I feel younger, fitter and healthier!'

WEEK EIGHT

Mum-of-two from Bushey, London

Height: 5ft 4

Start weight: 11st
Current weight: 9st 11lbs

Weight loss this week: 1lbs

This week I am weighing in at 9.11lbs - that's another pound shed and another step closer to my goal of 9.7lbs! Yay.  It has been a little harder this week though, I must admit what with the run up to the Jubilee events. There has been so much cake floating about that I am genuinely surprised that I’ve managed to lose any weight at all (I've been a tiny bit naughty...)

At the beginning of this week, I received yet more goodies from Closer - Reebok Slender Tone Trainers and a Sony Walkman - which you can get here! I am thrilled as I have wanted to try these trainers for ages - they're meant to tone your thighs and bum as you walk. They took a bit of getting used to at first as they make the surface beneath your feet feel uneven - but it certainly felt like they were doing something as they aggravated my sciatica(caused by years of horseriding) terribly at first. However, I took this as a good sign - after all, at least it showed that they were doing something!

Luckily the trainers on last week's Boot Camp showed me some stretches for my sciatica and these have really helped so I have persevered with the shoes and now that I am more used to them the sciatica has improved and it’s been great hiking about knowing that I am doing my legs some good.

When they arrived the package was met with great excitement and Alex (my two year old) assumed that obviously they were for him - after some discussion he relented stating that they were after all “too big”.

The Sony Walkman was also great. It’s tiny and a lovely red colour with a little clip so that you can attach it to yourself when you’re on the move. I love my ipod but it doesn’t attach to you and is quite slippery making it difficult to use when exercising or if you don’t have pockets when out walking. I am a self confessed technophobe so it took me a while to work out how to use it (I didn’t even realise that it pulled apart so that you can stick it in the USB port of your computer - now that’s a confession!) But once I got going with it, it was very easy to add songs from my music library on my PC and now that it’s all set up, it’s become a great way to escape while exercising. I am still doing my circuit training we learned on boot camp (sit ups, press ups, burpies etc...) I'm only doing ten minutes a day, but we were told that even this will make a difference! My music is programmed into the Walkman too to help me get to the end!

Another first this week has been taking both of my children swimming with my husband. This is something that I have wanted to do for ages but with two children under 2 there have always been plenty of excuses not to. Now that they are getting older I have been keen to take them however the thought of squeezing my wobbly bits into my swimming costume in the changing rooms and then trying to hide behind the kids before safe in the water was not something I relished!

I have never been ashamed of my body but since having two babies in such quick succession I have been much more conscious of myself, so previously I just put those negative thoughts to the back of my mind and took them somewhere else instead! How things have changed! The maternity swim suit has been binned and when I tried my old, slightly revealing, costume on it fitted great so I was good to go!  It was so good to be able to take the kids swimming and to concentrate fully on them without feeling overly self conscious about myself. Of course there’s still a lot that I would like to change but not enough to stop us from all enjoying things as a family. This is when I realised just how much difference losing even a stone in weight can make both mentally and physically!

8 weeks ago Kelby, Closers Online Editor, rang me to tell me that I had been chosen to take part in this diet special and we discussed how much weight I would like to lose. I initially said that a stone would be amazing - this seemed impossible at the time and when Kelby said that it would probably be possible for me to lose even more than that in the 10 weeks that we would be doing the diet, I just laughed but now that this has actually happened I am beyond pleased.

I know that when I reach the end of our allotted time, even if I have reached my target weight of 9.7lbs, I will keep gong with the healthy eating and portion control and I am definitely going to keep an eye on my weight. At least now I know what to do if I see it creeping up again. It really is so easy to follow the Closer Diet and I love that there’s a weekly online weigh in with a little progress chart that follows your weight loss journey. The end is in sight and I am beyond pleased that I decided to do this. I really feel like I have got my life back. I feel younger, fitter, healthier and better able to enjoy being with my family.
