Amanda Holden Amanda Holden's Fridge

Celebrity Diet Secrets - Amanda Holden

Tuesday 15 December 2009

TV star Amanda Holden, 38, reveals what’s in her fridge this Christmas

Where do you buy your Christmas food?

Waitrose and M&S.

What will you eat on Christmas Day?

For breakfast, I’ll do smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with Buck’s Fizz. Lunch is turkey with all the trimmings for my husband Chris [record producer Chris Hughes], and M&S vegetarian nut roast for me. Even though I’m a veggie, I love putting the turkey in the oven the night before so the whole house smells of cooking when you wake up.

What’s your signature dish on Christmas Day?

My roast potatoes – I use Nigella’s recipe with semolina to make them fantastically crispy.

What’s the most unusual thing you eat at Christmas?

I get some marshmallows and toast them on the open fire in my cottage.

Do you watch your figure during the festive period?

No, never! I stuff my face, and start running in the New Year!

What do you eat on Boxing Day?

I fry up leftover potatoes to make bubble and squeak. It’s a family tradition!

What’s your Christmas tipple?

Champagne, Kir Royale and Baileys.

Nutritionist Dr Barbara Wilson says:

“Amanda’s protein-rich breakfast is great – protein foods make you feel full so may stop you overdoing the sweet stuff. For lunch, nut roast tends to be higher in fat and calories than turkey, and ‘all the trimmings’ add cals too. In fact, your Christmas dinner could tot up to an entire day’s calorie intake.  Roll on the New Year’s healthy eating resolutions!”
