Fiona's pep talk
Tuesday 14 October 2008
It’s hard juggling work, family and a ‘reboot’, isn’t it? And you are probably missing your early morning cuppa, mid-morning latte or evening tipple.
But I hope you are beginning to get to grips with some of the foods and drinks on the programme and maybe even discovering a few new tastes that could become permanent fixtures on your shopping list.
Perhaps this is a good time to explain why it is so important to cut out some of your favourites whilst you are ‘rebooting’ your system.
Stimulants such as coffee and alcohol are not all bad and when treated with respect can be included in a good, balanced, healthy diet (you are no doubt aware of the fat-busting qualities of rich, dark coffee and the health-giving antioxidants in red wine - they have been well-studied).
But, in order to ease the burden on your liver for a spell it is imperative that you give your body a break and allow it to rest and repair for a while.
Only then can you embrace the festive season knowing that it can handle the possible excesses that go with the territory and greet the new year feeling good, looking lean and bursting with energy!
