Could you eat 6,000 calories?
Thursday 02 October 2008
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to do a ‘Joey’ (him of Friends, duh!) and consume a giant amount of calories without a morsel of guilt? At Closer HQ, we dream about it. Every day.
So when we heard about Green Door Bar and Grill’s unique fundraising idea that involves eating a meal that’s worth a whopping 6,000 calories (yes, you read that right), we thought we just have to share it with you!
To honour the exploits of this winter’s Matrix Shackleton Centenary Expedition, during which five descendants of the original team will use Shackleton’s personal compass to navigate 900 miles of icy wastelands, Green Door has put together a special menu that matches the 6,000 calories that the team will be consuming.
Arctic explorers need to consume huge amounts of energy to sustain their bodies in the extreme climate conditions, so the Meal Challenge menu includes:
* A “hoosh” (a mixture of cereal and goose – you think that’s weird, but the original contains penguin!)
* A 20oz (!!!) Aberdeen Angus steak
* A coconut vanilla ice cream shake
£10 of every meal sold will be donated to the Shackleton Foundation, a charity that helps individual leaders to cross their own ‘Antarcticas’, in whatever field.
So if you think you can do it, visit www.greendoorsteakhouse.co.uk for more information. Fundraising doesn’t get more fun than this, we don’t think!
