“Losing weight would improve my whole outlook on life. This summer I’d love to be able to wear some of my old summer clothes, and even splash out on some new ones.

“I put on weight in 2010 when I underwent IVF for two months to have my first child. The hormones didn’t seem to agree with me and over the course of about two years I had gained 4st in total! I lost 3st, but when my first son was four months old, I fell pregnant again.

With two children under two – Madeline, one, and Alexander, two – I don’t have much time for exercise even though my old job was a horse riding instructor. I am so tired I just reach for sugary snacks to boost my energy – both my babies have been ill and are often up during the night. I am desperate to get the old me back. My husband is very supportive of me, and he just wants me to be happy.”

Week one

"Having never before followed a diet plan, the thought of it was quite daunting! Having to take note of everything I'm eating and having to resist the temptations of ‘naughty’ foods left me feeling less than inspired, I'll be honest. But, after being recommended the Closer Diet by my nutritionist, Catherine Matthews, I soon realised that this diet plan was different - it was full of the things that I love to eat every day! I actually found myself scanning through the menu and looking forward to my meals - I started to feel a bit more relaxed about tackling my first ever diet.

I’m not sure how many people start a diet over Easter but I managed to avoid stuffing my face with too much chocolate and embarked upon the ‘Mediterranean’ diet plan. Unbelievably (to me anyway!) I am happy to report that I have managed to lose 4lbs this week! I think a big thing has been actually structuring my day to involve eating 3 proper meals - as opposed to snacking constantly whist running around after my very active babies. Catherine pointed out that they sit down to eat 3 times a day with 2 snacks so I should be able to sync myself with them and it has worked.

Now that I am getting into the swing of things, I am looking forward to trying out some of the suggested recipes - if I find any super tasty ones I will let you know! I am not expecting to lose the same amount of weight next week but what a great start. Watch this space!
