When it comes to keeping trim, fitness-loving Carly Zucker, wife of Joe Cole, admits to sacrificing sessions in the pub in return for her amazing figure, as alcohol is packed with calories - a terrifying fat fact that many of us choose to ignore.
‘Alcohol is so fattening’ says celeb trainer James Dugan ‘It’s literally like a fat bomb that explodes all over your tummy, thighs and hips. When my clients give up alcohol they lose weight and tone up quicker.’
With a whopping seven calories per gram, alcohol is far more hazardous to your hips than bread, rice, pasta or any other much-feared carbohydrates.
Unlike food, alcohol cannot be used directly by the muscles. Instead it travels into the bloodstream, where it must be metabolised before the body can start to burn the calories from your food. Equaling a beer belly rather than bikini bod!

Abbey eats spices
A curry can come with a bit of a kick. But a kick start to weight loss? Abbey Clancy, engaged to Peter Crouch, suggested her 5lb weight loss was down to just one thing – curry! The svelte star spent time in India filming for a TV show and couldn’t get enough of the spicy food. ‘We’d have curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner!’ she said, and resulted in being lighter for it!
Before you reach for the phone to call your local Indian, we are not suggesting you swap cornflakes for korma. A chicken korma is bursting with calories and saturated fat. Instead, pop a sprinkling of dried chilli into your healthy stir fries and pastas.
Studies do show that spices like chilli can boost your metabolism by a whopping 50%! Eat hot and look hotter!

The best way to get results fast is to pair your diet with a bit of exercise. Queen of the WAGs Victoria Beckham swaps her stilettos for trainers every day!
Formerly a famous gym dodger, Posh is now an avid fitness fan.
‘I run four miles, seven days a week. I feel energized and healthy – there are really nice gyms here (in LA) and I really enjoy it,’ she says.
