Could fruit and veg make you sexy?
Wednesday 18 November 2009
Women everywhere will be pleased to hear that eating fruit and veg isn’t only good for you health, but could also make you more attractive to the opposite sex, according to a new study.
The research by St Andrews University in Scotland involved asking male and female volunteers what types of skin tones made people appear most healthy and desirable.
The results revealed that men and women both preferred the radiant complexions - evident in Hollywood stars Keira Knightley, Johnny Depp and Myleene Klass - created by eating lots of fruit and veg.
When also asked to use specialist computer software to manipulate the skin colour of male and female faces to make them look as healthy as possible they choose to increase the radiance, yellow tones and brightness of the skin.
'Most previous work on faces has focused on the shape of the face or the texture of the skin, but one of the most variable characteristics of the face is skin colour,’ said Dr Ian Stephen, who conducted the study.
‘Our research suggests that living a healthy lifestyle with a good diet might actually be better,’ he added.
