Tuesday 15 March 2011
Closer had the opportunity to catch up with former X-Factor contestant turned model Lucie Jones to discuss her new campaign as the face of skin care product, LMS spotlights. Find out what beauty tips the Welsh singer has to offer, why taking her make-up off is the most important part of her regime and about working on her hotly anticipated new album...
Hello Lucie how are you?
I’m good thank you how are you?
I’m very well thank you, so I hear you’re the new face of LMS spotlights?
Yes I am in deed and I’m very proud of that. LMS spotlights is like the best thing I’ve ever come across in my life, its so good. Literally everyone who is using it is like, ‘its amazing it‘s the best‘. It literally just gets rid of your spots over night.
So how many times do you have to use it?
You use It for three times a day. Its a one minute treatment. You hold it on your face for one minute and you do it at lunch time and at night and the next thing, well for me, its pretty much gone. If a spot ever hurts it takes away some of the pain. It takes away all that redness and swelling and it’s just the ideal treatment. It’s so good, effective and immediate.
How did you hear about it?
Well they contacted us through my management. I was a little bit dubious at first because so many people bring out spot treatments and they‘re like, ‘this is the best thing ever‘. I tried it for about three months and by the end of the three months I was like, when can I buy it. Even if you don’t want me to do it anymore tell me because I want to tell everyone about it. It’s so good. I contacted her and said after I used it for a while I can’t believe that it actually works so well. I’m so pleased to be involved in it. I work in the West End and use a lot of make-up on stage so I do get the occasion spot and it can be quite painful and it really does help take them away.
How are you finding it being on stage?
It’s so good I’m having the best time its so hard but I‘m learning every single day and I’m working with some of the best people. I’m very lucky, I’ve made some amazing friends and I’m just very lucky with it really, I count my blessing every single day.
Have you got anymore acting in the pipeline?
Yeah I mean I’m auditing for shows as well as doing this show. I finish in June and I can either go on to do another show or get back into TV acting and possibly film acting as well as recording my album.
Excellent. When do you begin work on your album?
We’ve started to write it now and I have sessions booked in with some writers and producers. I write a lot of my own stuff so it’s a good basis to go in and meet someone and go this is something that I wrote it and play it and say ’what do you think’ and they can say I like it or I like this part of it or let‘s change it to this. Its just a good way to start building up stuff and we’re going to get a couple of tracks down and get them to the record label to see what they think. I’ve put covers on youtube and all my followers on twitter go and watch them. I just want to get something official out there for them because they have been so supportive. It’s really nice to see that people really believe in me. So as soon as I can do it, it will be there.
What is your beauty regime?
I think the most important thing for me is taking my make-up off, If I just use make-up wipes my skin gets quite bad and its not a good look so make sure you cleanse and tone everyday that’s what I say. I use my LMS if I have any spots and it’s kind of a daily ritual. I also use some Moisturiser from Clarins which I love because its completely natural. That’s kind of the main thing for me, taking it off properly. I try to keep it minimal because I think less is more. It’s taking it off which is the important part.
What beauty product could you not live without?
It would be my LMS spotlights. I think the worse thing is if your going out on a night out and you just have the most horrific spot on the end of your nose, it’s horrible and un-coverable. Because it works so well and its discreet, I’ve been out on a night out and its been in my bag (LMS spotlight) I’ve put my hand on my face and thought ‘oh my god there’s going to be spot there tomorrow’ so I’ve gone into the toilet used it for one minute and then not have a spot the next day. You can just tell when they’re going to come. It’s so good I don’t know what I would do if it ever breaks. I would have to run straight out and buy another one.
What are your beauty secrets?
I generally believe that with make-up less is more. I hate it when you see a girl walking down the street and she doesn’t look good with five inches of make-up on, I mean she will, she will look alright, but If you really delve through the layers of foundation there’s an even more beautiful girl underneath. I think that simplicity is beautiful. I love seeing people with no make-up on. I like beauty marks and love freckles, I hate it when people cover them up. I just think less is always more especially if your going out on a night out and some of your make-up falls off. If you don’t put as much (make-up) on then your not going to risk that problem.
Have you got any beauty tips that you could share with our readers?
If there was something I would share it would defiantly be for my eye-liner. If I was going to wear a tiny bit of make-up in the day it would be eyeliner and a little bit of mascara and I always try doing it with the tiniest skinniest little bit of gel eyeliner by Mac on my top eye lid. It just changes my whole face. I look ill without it.
How are you finding being the face of wonder bra?
It’s cool. I was terrified. It’s my first lingerie photo shoot and I was little bit terrified so I had been working out a little bit more than what I would usually do to make myself look good for it, but I was scared. My ex-boyfriend was there, my manager was there, photographer, photographer’s assistant but they were all so nice, they were like you look great and we’ll direct you to do what we want you to do and don’t panic. I really enjoyed it by the end of it. The fact that I’ve done it now, I’m honoured and when I look back on it I’m just honoured because of some of the people who have done it before me. I’m just really proud of myself for doing it and I’m happy that they chose me.
