Man sheds 25 stone to run marathon
Friday 16 April 2010
A man who weighed more than a baby elephant has shed 25 stone and will be running this year’s 26-mile London Marathon.
Father of two Roberto Enrieu, 6ft 4in, embarked on a slimming programme for four years to bring him down from 45 stone.
He recalled the humiliation he felt during a job interview before he lost the weight, when he broke the interview chair by sitting in it.
Commenting on his weight loss, a proud Roberto said: “I’m going from someone who was out of breath walking to the fridge to a real-life marathon man.”
He keeps fit by canoeing and swimming, and completed the challenging Threee Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdown, in an impressive 24 hours.
Roberto will be running the marathon to raise money for Children In Need.
