RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
I am from Warrington and went to the Church Primary School yards away from the scene of this horrific crime.
The proposed appeal of this animal at OUR expense is an absolute farce and should never be allowed under any circumstances! It is an insult to Helen Newlove, her Family & the whole of humanity!
These Thugs have no respect for others, their property and now it would seem human life itself!
We all know that blood is 'supposedly' thicker than water however, would it not be more prudent for the parents to keep a dignified silence? Instead of this they add insult to injury (far more so in this case!) by protesting that their offspring are not 'really' as they are being portrayed! We have all been drunk, most of us manage NOT to murder people. Quite frankly I would penalise the parents as well as their feral scum - they bear at least some of the blame!
PS. In the local press one of the 'mothers' descibed herself as an 'Ice Cream Dancer' - what is that? And would you name it as your 'career'?

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
None of these boys should ever be accepted for an appeal - what they have done is unforgiveable, even if they didn't mean to kill Gary, they certainly meant to seriously hurt him which is absolutely disgusting. they are scum and deserve nothing more than to be looking at prison walls for the rest of their lives. I don't think that parents are always to blame but i do certainly think that the parents should come to terms with what their sons' have done and not try to appeal their convictions. I am sure it would be a different story if one of their family members was killed by a group of scum bag thugs.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
It's people like this that make me scared to walk home. I hate having to walk past gangs of people, drinking and swearing every night. If I ever said anything back to them god knows what they'd do.
I have a drink with my friends, but would never Dream of hurting anyone, I just Could Not do it.
It REALLY scares me how people seem to have no conscience or sense of Humanity anymore.

For those wondering an ice cream dancer is an unusual sport where someone wrestles with another person covered in ice cream.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
lets hope these thugs serve their full sentence, To think that an appeal launched by one of the families will be at the taxpayers expense is a crime in itself!! .I think margaret sorton should have kept silent on the matter, The poor man is dead and her son was one of them who took his life .SCUM

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
Hi
My name is Veronique and I am French.I am a teacher and have been in England for 13 years.I have to say I am apalled at the drunken culture that has become the norm here. The problem is indeed the culture and how you bring up your children. Also the attitude towards alcohol is the problem. On the continent we are generally more responsible and kids learn to deal with alcohol. We teach them to drink in moderation.Whe n I was younger I was told it was only for adults. When I was a bit older I was then given a little bit of wine with water and once in a while only and with food under supervision around adults. It is also very distressing to think people need to go out and get so drunk and to be thought as boring if you don't do so.I also believe you have achoice.I understand the youngsters were drunk when they killed Garry Newlove but you make your choices and they chose to drink. They should stay in prison because at the end of the day they killed someone and ruined the life of a family.I am teacher and I call it being responsible of one's action and try to teach that to my classes.Being able to accept the consequences of your actions.I also believe parents should bring up their children and it starts early.Children need boundaries and discipline at a young age and it starts when they are young. It is not good enough saying i cannot control my child but if you leave its too late.A 14 year old will not listen to you. if you suddenly decide to discipline them.It starts as soon as they understand and they need to know who is in charge. Also parents need to say no and mean no and to set the examplee.Children learn by example. We teachers can try to educate them not bring them up its the parents job.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
Hi, i have just read the article 'Booze turned my son into a murderer' & i am absolutley disgusted. The gang that attacked & killed this man infront of his poor family should be killed in exactly the same way they took this man's life!!!! The sight of what happened that night will live with Mr Newloves family forever & will replay in their minds forever. I am even more disturbed by the comments made by Sortons mother. This woman is unbeleivable - i understand that love for your child is unconditional but stating that her son "is not monster" & "my son would not be capable of the sickening attack if they had not been drunk" is ridiculous!!!! When you have alcohol no matter what amount you know what you are doing - it is no excuse for this brutal attack. In my opinion Sorton looks evil in his picture from 2002. I blame his unbringing & she should be ashamed of herself. No appeal should ever be accepted & i am even more appauled it will be using taxpayers money - they should rot for what they have done & the pain they have caused the Newlove family.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
i totally agree its nothing to do with the drink yeah some people do get a bit violent but not enough to murder someone that thing just took his life away and broke a lot of peoples hearts, i think murders should starve to death in there cell , i wouldn say kill them straight away cause they wouldn be able to feel the pain , well as at least if u let them starve to death or get put on a electric chair they will feel the pain and have a painful death,i hope they rot in hell evil things and the mother should not be standing up for him once a murderer always a murderer .

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
Animals. Ppl get drunk but dont commit murder its rubbish to blame this 100% on drink. Combine an uneducated ill bred scumbag with cheap booze and this is what you get. That one mothers self pity is disgusting. A good man died horrifically in front of his family and this woman whinges for sympathy for herself and the animal she reared? "these kids are from decent families"??!!!!!! go look up the meaning of decent love.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
Her son is clearly nothing but an animal. Don't blame the drink, he would have probably have done that sober too. Realistically, i don't believe THAT drunk can lead to someone hideously murdering someone. If they were THAT drunk, how are they able to stand? Let alone kick someones head in. Sure, drinking can lead to violence, but to this extent? I don't think so. The victim could have easily have acted back, considering they were so 'out of it' - it would have been pretty easy, wouldnt it? I hope these boys are suffering for what they did.

RE: 'Booze turned my son into a murderer'
alcohol or no alcohol, these youths are still murderers and should rot in jail on a life sentence - 25 years +! they have ruined the lives of innocent people and the killer's families should never forget this and the pain that their offspring have inflicted on an innocent man. eye for an eye!
