I've heard children scream at such a volume and pitch as to physically hurt my ears, so I can believe this could happen, especially when belted in within close range of a screaming child. And admittedly, while Mrs Barnard's vocal feelings are indeed harsh and unnecessary, it's probably what we would all be thinking to ourselves when in that situation. However, she may not have considered the fact that the child may have had ear pain of its own, hence the screaming. Cabin pressure can cause earache and it's worse for children, and a little sympathy from her wouldn't go astray. Also, I cannot imagine what she thought the airline could have done to stop the child from screaming, short of restraining it, gagging it, and locking it in the 1st class coat closet. Am surprised she managed to sue them successfully.

omg what a horrible bitch i hope they checked with medica experts that the eardrum exploded as a result of the noise and not the pressure in the airplane! i find it hard to belive that a child can scream that loud! and if they burst that women's then why was no-one else affected! as for saying she would have stomped him to death what a sick human being! its a child for gods sakes!

Kids + Planes = disaster for everyone else who doesnt want to hear the little 'darlings' screaming and whinging for a 10 hour flight.
Maybe they should put them all in the hold with the bags? lol.

you really do say some ridiculous things sometimes "truthteller" i know you were joking but theres more annoying things on a flight like drunk ppl or lary teens going on 18-30 holidays!

i think it was mainly the preasure that caused this and saying that she wanted to kill the kid was out of order if it was getting too much she could have gotten off her fat bum and gone for a walk! or locked herself in a toilet cubicle i think she should have gone where they put the bag since she seams like a right whinging old bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sounds really painfull!People would want peace and quiet while they're on a plane cause it would be stressful if you had to hear a three year old screaming for hours and hours!!But the woman shouldn't have sued them cause the child is only three years old,I hated what she said at the end!I would love to slap her silly!!!

I do sympathize with her, I was on the bus the other day and this child screamed and screamed throwing a right tantrum the whole way. Ive got 2 very young children so at first I just thought oh kids will be kids, BUT after half an hour i wanted to slap the mother, who was just pandering to him!
i know all kids are different but by that age they know when their making a nu-sense of myself s and don't scream the place down because their ears hurt they do it because their throwing a wobbly!

Good on her. I feel her pain. I cant stand going to the supermarket in the evening with the amount of little sweethearts screaming their heads off. The amount of useless parents shocks me, if I acted up when i was little I got a smacked bum and sent to bed. But heaven forbid an adult do that present times. This is why britain is breeding a generation of teen mums, and hoodie chavs.
The should have seperate everything for parents with kids, stick them on their own planes, buses and supermarkets let them scream at eachother till their hearts content, leave us in peace. And before someone whinges, no I havnt got kids and no i dont bloody want em. Energy and money parasites.

I've been stuck on planes, trains etc with screaming bratty kids and it isn't pleasant. I can handle it when the parent is embarrassed and trying to calm the child but the parents who ignore their children and leave them to it - them I would happily stomp on!!

That woman is a grade A class 1 monster.
Children have tantrums that's what they do, some because they are children but most because the parents don't know how to react or deal with them properly.
Don't blame the child, blame the parents and while your at it ban the 67 year old for being such a nasty person.

Hi I'm a kid and I get really sick and get bad earache sometimes on aeroplanes but even when I was a little kid I didn't scream so loud I deafened someone!

i have a kid n hes very loud but if he ever startd screamin n throwin a tantrum he certainly wudnt b doing it 4 long i certanly wud not ignore him and leave evrey body else put up with it in that way i believe it isnt fair,,,but if somebody ever said they wud stomp on my kid they wud have to kill me before i got to them thats an awful horrible thing to say.
