‘I can’t wait to have the S'land Shagger's baby

Notorious love rat keith MacDonald is no stranger to headlines. Closer has followed his trail of eight broken-hearted women and eight abandoned babies over several years.

The sponger – nicknamed the Sunderland Shagger – says it’s “too much hassle” to stay in touch with his kids. Their care could cost taxpayers £2million by the time they’ve grown up because all the mothers claim benefits.

Yet, somehow, he still finds women who are willing to have unprotected sex with him.

Now Keith’s ex, Clare Bryant – mother of baby number eight – has become the first of his victims to get pregnant by him twice.

Clare, 22, from Houghton-Le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, is due to have a girl on 3 May after a drunken one-night stand with her ex. They first appeared in Closer in September 2009, after Keith, now 25, said he’d turned over a new leaf and proposed with a £30 ring.

Incredibly, Clare knew about his reputation when she met him swigging lager at his pulling spot – Sunderland bus station – in March 2009. She admits: “I could see the attraction. He’s sexy with piercing blue eyes.”

They had their first date at Greggs bakery. When Keith proposed three months later, Clare, who says they never used contraception, was sure she’d tamed him and they moved into a two-bed house – paid for by benefits.

Keith, who lost his virginity at 10, said at the time: “When I met Clare, I was downing 12 cans of lager a day. Now I’ve quit booze and am looking for a job. I’ll never stray again.”

They discovered they were having a baby just weeks later but soon Keith was back to his old ways. He finally walked out on the relationship on New Year’s Eve 2009 after a row about his drinking. “I was better off as a single mum,” says Clare, who gave birth to his eighth baby, daughter Paige, in April last year.

Then, three months after the birth, Clare bumped into Keith in a bar. “I’d only seen him once since Paige was born, but I was drunk, so I invited him back to my house with my mates. When I went to bed, Keith snuck in next to me. I didn’t say anything when he kissed me – I still had a soft spot for him. The next day, I was annoyed I’d had unprotected sex, but didn’t think I’d be pregnant because my periods weren’t
back to normal since giving birth.”

Four weeks later, Clare did a pregnancy test after feeling faint and it was positive. She says: “Keith said he was pleased, but he’s barely been in touch.”

Her family were disappointed. She says: “They were mad because Keith is a rubbish dad, but they know I can cope without him. Keith won’t give me a penny, but I don’t care. It’s a shame it didn’t work out, but he’s given me two kids, so I can’t hate him.”

Keith says: “Clare says the baby is mine. I don’t know what to think.”
