‘Doll man’ Everard Cunion’s big day: Everard marries his doll Caroline
Closer magazine has featured Everard Cunion and his silicone dolls several times over the past few years. We’ve taken them on a day trip to the coast, dressed the dolls as Girls Aloud, celebrated the Royal Wedding, recreated movie scenes, and this time for our free 28pp Real Life Special magazine, in Closer issue 487 on sale now, Everard wanted to marry his favourite life-size doll Caroline in the style of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
Check out closer's Alice and Sal taking a ride in their wedding carriage above!
When our shoot team – Alice and Sal from the picture department – arrived at his home in Christchurch, Dorset, Everard was already busy getting his ‘girls’ ready, brushing their hair, doing their make-up and French manicuring their nails. He was also very excited that we’d rented a suit for him to wear. He didn't like the colour but thought he looked very glamorous anyway.
Alice and Sal helped dress the bride and four bridesmaid dolls, then Everard carried his bride to the horse-drawn carriage.
Sal says: ‘The Cinderella-style carriage was amazing with two huge white horses and two smart uniformed horsemen to drive. We caused quite a stir. The traffic came to a standstill, passers-by stopped to have a look at the bride and groom.
‘At one point while we were taking pictures, a woman came down behind me and said: “Such a beautiful carriage, great thing to do for a wedding…… Oh My God! It's a doll!” and ran away. Everard loved starring at people in their cars and waiting for their reactions
Needless to say, Everard had a huge smile on his face, and Caroline looked, well Caroline had the same expression all day long!
Alice says: ‘The most difficult shot was getting the picture of the dolls ready to catch the bouquet ….which did land on the photographer’s head quite a few times!’
We wish Everard and Caroline many happy years together.
