Bob Piller travels 90 miles for fish'n'chips!!
Friday 16 April 2010
Ever journeyed 44 miles for a portion of fish and chips?
Neither have we but retired chippie owner Bob Piller, 76, travels 90 miles every Friday at 9am from his home in Dereham, Norfolk to chip shop Supafry in Hunstanton, as he believes it to be the best he has 'ever tasted'.
Six buses, seven hours and a £4.45 portion later, he exclaims: ‘I feel the seven hours it takes me to get there and back is worth it because they are just so tasty and delicious.’
He explained: ‘What I really like about the fish and chips from Supafry is that the cod is boneless and skinless and I ask for a few scraps for my portion.’
‘The staff are always pleasant and you can either sit inside the premises or you can sit on a bench across the road. There is even a distant sea view thrown in- you just cant beat it.’
Jason Smith, the owner of Supafry, is chuffed that Mr Pillar is a fan of his fish and chips, and is quoted as saying: ‘There is no better advertising than word of mouth and we appreciate Bob’s comments about our food.’
Some might find it a tad fishy but we say long live Supafry, apparently the most travel-worthy chippie around.
Distance definitely seems to make the heart grow... codder?

I wouldn't travel 90 miles for just fish and chips! Maybe if it was some other classy meal, then I might consider it. But Fish and chips? NOWAY! The meal must be pretty yummy though!
