Dad: 'A movie turned my son gay'

A father went to buy his 15-year-old son a gangster flick and instead accidentally bought him a movie featuring gay sex scenes.

The result? Well, the dad thinks the movie he purchased has turned his son gay.

Portsmouth dweller Joel Roberts, 33, bought a film called Shank from the internet, believing it to be a gritty gangster movie starring grime star Bashy and Skins’ Kaya Scodelario.

But he’d actually ordered a different film with the same title which entailed gay sex scenes.

Two days later, his son approached him, saying he is gay.

Joel blames the film for “confusing” his son and is seeking compensation from the film company.

He said: “My son watches this and now thinks he’s gay! He isn’t – he’s just impressionable at this age. After he watched the urban Shank in cinemas he wanted to be a rap star in April!”

The film company commented on the matter, saying: “Mr Roberts is clearly deluded. We will not be responding to his ridiculous claims”

i agree with tht efilm company this man is quite clearly completely deluded! how can he even have the balls to go into a solicisitors or whatever for help this is just so rediculous, i belive that you are born gay nothing can turn you gay but you just might try to hide it and deny it to yourself because of fear. maybe the son has always known he is gay and finally found the courage to tell his dad because of this film he should stop being such a biggott and support his son yes teens are impressonable but at 15 im sure if he says hes gay he probably knows how he feels!

he obviously cant cope with the fact that his son is gay, which is such a shame for parents... their children are who they are, and whether the are gay, bi or straight does not change them as a person. families are often torn apart because of parents like this, and it is so sad. i believe that you are born gay, and nothing you see, watch or hear about can "turn" you gay, that is just ridiculous!! this man needs to give his son the support he needs and be proud of the fact that he has been able to say who he is, and the fact that he has been able to tell his father is fantastic..

thats terrible it's the way his son wants to live his life. His dad has no reason to blame it on the movie and he is completely deluded. It's a shame how his dad cant accept his sexuality , wither he's gay or not he's still HUMAN with feelings. His dad really should stick beside his son and help him. Efilm are right. They shouldn't respond to such a ridiculous claim.

Totally deluded and panicing. A film gay cannot make you gay, just as a straight film can't make you straight if you're gay.How old is this man, grow up!

I think this man is a pretty awful father for publicly "outing" his son and blaming a film!! He clearly wants some exposure for his 15 minutes at his poor sons expense.. Hope his son moves out and has a happy life.

Er......the covers on the DVD are completely different and one clearly shows a film that would probably be about gay men one would assume, since it clearly shows two men kissing. HELLO! MORON ALERT!

exactly look at the difference of the covers one is clearly a gay porn film! lol and one seems to be a 15 which is fine as the boy mentioned is 15 but the other one is an 18 so he should have been more responsible and not given it to his son or at least read the back so he knew what it was about!

You can't 'turn' someone gay, especially not with a movie. He was more than likely gay all along and didn't know and was repressed by his idiot father. How come this movie didn't TURN his dad gay if it was so powerful? Is his son a murderer too from watching films and TV? *rolls eyes*

omg well i am raving luntic, a murderer, a physco, a prostitute, etc etc you are born gay you cant be turned gay. if his son is gay get over it at least he is none of the above that i mentioned, buy the way i am none of these if you were wondering.
