'My 94-year-old husband is an amazing lover!’

At the grand old age of 94, Ramjeet Raghav should be enjoying his twilight years.

And he certainly is! The sprightly farm labourer is married to a woman less than half his age, and has just become a father for the first time, making him the world’s oldest dad.

Boasting that her husband loves having sex three times a night, wife Shakuntala Devi Raghav, 42, says: “You’d never think Ramjeet was 94. He’s a very energetic lover. He’s better than any 25-year-old man.”

She adds: “Ever since the hospital told us he was the world’s oldest dad, people have been very kind. I love that he is famous.”

Speaking from their home in Haryana in northern India, Shakuntala reveals she was married once before, but was left heartbroken when her first husband ran away with another woman in 2000 – taking their young son with him.

With no family to support her, penniless Shakuntala had no way of finding her son.

“I spent months looking for him, but I found nothing. I was devastated,” she says.

With such a tragic history, it’s hardly surprising that Shakuntala was drawn to widower Ramjeet’s sunny personality when they met at a wedding in 2007.

“Ramjeet brightened up my day,” she smiles. “He was old enough to be my dad, but he didn’t act like it.”

That same day, Ramjeet invited Shakuntala to his place and she cooked dinner. He then proposed to her that same evening – and, incredibly, Shakuntala agreed.

“He told me his age, but it wasn’t a problem for me,” says Shakuntala. “I hadn’t met anyone so caring in a long time.”

Within weeks, the couple were wed and began the rest of their lives together. Surprisingly, Ramjeet – who puts his amazing virility down to a diet rich in almonds and cheese – didn’t need medicinal assistance to perform in the bedroom.

“It was amazing,” says Shakuntala. “Soon we were having sex up to three times a night.”

After a year of marriage, Shakuntala fell pregnant, but sadly miscarried.

“It was my chance to be a mother again, so I was sad when I lost the baby,” she says.

Then, at the beginning of last year, Shakuntala fell pregnant again and in November 2010 baby Karamjit was born. 

“As soon as Karamjit was born, Ramjeet kissed him all over,” says Shakuntala. “His previous two wives had died young, so he’d never had the chance to be a father.”

Ramjeet insists he’ll live to see his child grow up. “I’ll not die any time soon,” he says. “My bones aren’t as good as they were, but there’s nothing wrong with me.”

The couple hope to have more children.

“Ramjeet wants another son,” says Shakuntala. “I love being a mother. I just wish that I could see my first son – he’d be a teenager by now.

“Ramjeet may be 94, but he’s given me all I need. I’m a very happy woman.”
