'I've had 70 men - now I use sex lines instead'
Wednesday 09 September 2009
Cheryl Tunney made headlines after admitting she’d slept with more than 70 men by the time she was just 18. The teen often slept with strangers she picked up on the street or met online in a bid to have sex with more men than her friends.
Despite becoming addicted to casual sex and catching chlamydia aged 17, she refuses to have STI tests. And she claims not to worry about pregnancies, HIV or the increased risk of cervical cancer associated with unprotected sex at an early age.
Last year, Cheryl, who lost her virginity when she was 16, told Closer she was giving up casual sex for good, but now – as new figures show nine out of 10 teenage girls have been in a sexual relationship – she confesses she’s since gone to bed with four more men.
Now 20, Cheryl, from Dagenham, Essex, says: “I haven’t slept with anyone for three or four months, but my reputation will never go away – people still call me a slag.”
For a while, it seemed as though Cheryl really had changed. In spring 2008, she got engaged, but the relationship ended when Cheryl had sex with an old school friend.
She says: “It was wrong to cheat, but I suspected my fiancé was boffing a neighbour so it was bound to have ended eventually.”
Cheryl admits she then slept with a few more men, including a bus driver she met at a bingo hall. She says: “I was at bingo when I met a man outside. He started flirting and then dropped me home in his bus.”
Cheryl had sex with him the next day, but hasn’t spoken to him since.
She admits she couldn’t always be bothered to use contraception with her conquests and could have an STI.
Shockingly, she says: “Who knows where these blokes have been? I should get checked out, but I just haven’t got round to it.”
But Cheryl believes she’s now found a way to stay celibate. She says: “I sometimes go to a gay bar so I don’t get tempted by men when I’m drunk. I used to think I needed to sleep with boys, but now I wear short skirts and just enjoy the attention. I don’t go further than snogging. I’m fed up of being used.”
Bizarrely, jobless Cheryl, who lives off her mum’s cleaning wages, now gets her kicks by calling sex chat lines – which cost around £1 per minute – to listen to men masturbating. She says: “I could be out looking for guys to sleep with instead, but now that stage of my life is over for good.”
Unsurprisingly, Cheryl’s mum, Debbie, 46, was horrified when she first learned of her daughter’s sexual behaviour. But Cheryl says her mum is now proud of her because she doesn’t sleep around as much – although she doesn’t know about her new ambition to be a Page Three model.
“I don’t think she’d be happy, but I’m sure she’ll come around,” says Cheryl. “I think I’ve got what it takes – boys will love me.”
